![]() General Information About Ordering Copies of Motion Pictures and Videotapes During ReentryĪlthough the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) does not license footage, there is a transfer charge and an archival handling fee (per reel) if you wish to obtain higher resolution copies of our films using a NARA-approved reproduction process with contracted vendors. Reproduction options and procedures are described below. Timelines may be longer during NARA’s Reentry. You should allow a minimum of 4-6 weeks to complete your reproduction order. Many factors can impact the ordering times, mainly the format and condition of the original item(s), the location of copies and staffing levels at different NARA facilities, or any restrictions or permission needed for reproduction. There are no changes to NARA archival handling fees.Ĭopies are made by off-site private vendor laboratories in cooperation with NARA.NARA has temporarily extended the timeline for order fulfillment to twenty-five business days from vendor’s receipt of records from NARA.NARA cannot guarantee specific timelines for approval and filling of orders.Requests for items that were not approved on previously submitted IARLs must be re-submitted on new IARLs, and assigned new tracking numbers.NARA will only accept orders from IARLs within 6 months of the approval date, which is noted next to the order number.Please contact for further information and options. Unfortunately, NARA no longer has a vendor who can provide broadcast-quality sound reproductions.For Moving Image materials, NARA will approve Intermediate (I) copies and Preservation (P) copies.All IARL forms submitted that exceed this requirement will be returned to the requestor without approval.
